Now we know that taste is highly subjective and that many people will love some of the whiskies we find wanting but that is a good thing. Over the coming months it may become apparent what floats our boat and what doesn’t.

Isle of Raasey – Amontillado Cask

We were all really looking forward to this tasting because we were very impressed with the first offering from Raasey that we tasted in July 2022 when we were on tour in Yorkshire.
We had also tasted the Deanston Amontillado finish which we picked up on our tour to Scotland last year and so we knew how good an Amontillado finish could be.
We started with our usual catch up on the football, whether Boro would get into the playoffs and how Arsenal would do against Real Madrid. The conversation soon moved on to Nigel’s hernia operation and what kind of painkillers he would get (only paracetomol).
Someone, possibly Simon, decided it was time to try the whisky and we each poured ourselves a reasonable measure.
